Great Movies: War Games

Do you remember the old style Sci-Fi movies? The ones where the "computers of the future" are shown, at the times where computers where scary and filled up complete rooms. And where reality outreached every imagination of the brilliant directors -- at least seen 25 years later.


One of my favorites is WarGames. As a computer geek this one is especially appealing for me: It has hardware is worth the name. Hackers and a gone-mad supercomputer playing with nukes. Together they playing towards doomsday, as finally the AI is figuring out the difference of reality and games. At last tic-tac-toe will saved the world.

Seamless integration Google Search into Lifetype (Part 1)

Posted by coldtobi | 16 Jul, 2008, 17:43 Some weeks ago, I integrated the Google Search into the blogging platform on this site. At this time I already planned to do a "how to", as this might be also interesting for others. Seamless integration means, that the search results are embedded in the look and feel of the blog: It should use the same templates and also present the search results matching to the design of the blog.

Of course, you don't want to maintain different template system, so best the search engine will use exactly the same template files also used for the rest of the blog.

How to check if you have ModRewrite

ModRewrite comes handy for SEO and other opportunites, where you want to change URL to something else. Lifetype uses this to assemble all the php parameters and make more search-engine and humanfriendly URLs. Also, you can do the RFI Protection I described earlier.
To find out, whether your webhoster's Apache supports ModRewrite, you have basically two options:
