WebSpace

When you are looking for a new home for your (new) website project, you
usually have to stress search engines a lot. But then, with the
results, the quest really starts: There are tons of offers for hosting
on the net, and even if you can narrow down the list, there are some
more things you should consider while choosing your candidates.
Of course, the features you are essential in finding the optimal
candidate. For some examples, look at my site. My primary project is
this blog. So for this I need a database and php support. Would be a
boring blog without ;-). Also, I have another domain are hosted at this
web space. This is also something that is always available on a "cheap"
plan. Or the hoster disallows some file types. It would be a pity, if I
could not host the archives (tars, zips, etc) for my open source projects to
share.
But these restrictions are real world and I have seen them all on my
very own quest. But there are also more than technical limitations that
you should consider.
For example, how is the connection, how often are their servers down,
is this some living-room, script-kiddy-style corporation or do they
state-of-the-art business? However, this is not always easy to tell
from informations available at the websites. So you usually have to
rely on your common Sense, experience and maybe recommendations from
one you know and trust.
For this, a directory like this webhosting provider list might be handy.
Especially if you a new to the topic is, you should
inform yourself about the basics of hosting. If you look at this blog
for example, there are some excellent articles about these topics I
just brought up. As I do not want to copy from them and it seems that
they add there and then some new articles, it is best to visit the site
by you own ;-).
