Sparse Broadband

Posted by coldtobi | 19 Jul, 2007, 11:18

Its being quite on my blog.

Well it has a reason: My broadband connection is failing, and it does currently not look like if this is betting better soon. I knew, that I am on a bad line, but in this case I suppose some other error not in my influence.

It started some weeks: I encountered some syncronisation  losses, but they healed relativly quick, mostly after some seconds, or in one case, a port reset did it (accorfing to the tech staff, this is sometimes needed, kind of "reboot" of the DSLAM).

But the physically performance data of my line, given by the modem, was quite stable, and there was enough headroom to have a stable connection, I even would be able had one "uprade" on the connection plan. (theoretically, as the Telekom never would do it because they use a database and not the reality for determine the possibilities).

But the last days it got both worse and better: The sync losts occured more often, but always it reconnected, the data of the modem started to change more rapid (about 300kbit from one second to the other). On the better side, the data techical data got to highs -- after reconntions -- I never seen before.

I also tried a new spliter, a new modem...

The last days then it stayed at it all-time-highs, but suddently: The modem is not syncing anymore.

As I usually write my articles with lots of Internet Googling and other online research, I am currently not in the situation to write articles with accurate background.

I 'll update as soon I have news.
